Biography

Hans Obbesz Broersma & Anna (Antje) Thomasdr (born in Sloten, probably near Amsterdam): Children: Obbe (1610, see above), Auckien (1621, married soldier & turf worker Jan Jacobsz de Haes), Aechtje (1625, married bombazine worker (a twilled fabric) Jochum Hennings), Aeltie (1628, married Claes Gerryts & Pieter Luitiens Stellingwerff), Trijntje (married mason & potter Dirk Pytters & lived in Bolswerd; after he died in 1671 she received 1000 gold guilders, which equaled 1400 Caroli guilders). Married in a Hervormde Kerk (Reformed church). Hans was a goldsmith in Joure. On October 23 1633 there was an action between Foecke Seyckens (representing Dominicus Broersma of Sneek) and Jan Broersma of Bolswaard, uncles and guardians of the children of the deceased Hans, and Assuerus van Vierssen representing Joris Andries, secretary of Gaasterlandand Gerryd Simons Potter and Sibble Aetes, creditors of Hans Broersma. On June 26 1637 Antie, widow of Hans and now married to Jochum Hoppendorff, received custody of her and Hans’ children: Auckien (16 yrs), Aechtie (12), Mayke (8) and Aeltie (9) and named them her heirs after a discussion with their uncle Fonger Laquart. On October 4 1620 the estate of Anne Wickesz in Joure was sold. One of the buyers was Hans Broersma (some tongs for 8 stuivers (5 cent pieces) and 8 pennies.[1]
